This is my personal website. It collects a little, mostly to see what people read, and none of it is sold or shared for marketing. Here's the lot.

Analytics

The site counts its own visits: which pages you look at, where you came from, your screen size, language and time zone, how far you scroll and which links out you click. Cloudflare adds a rough location (country and city), your network provider and browser type. Your IP address isn't kept. Each visit gets an ID made from it with a random value that changes daily and is deleted after two days, so visits can't be linked across days or traced back to you. No cookies, and I only ever look at totals.

The site also uses Google Analytics, which does set cookies and sends Google your IP address, browser details and the pages you visit. Any ad or tracker blocker will stop it, and the site works fine without it.

The "Ask about Miro" assistant

The chat on the home page is AI. What you type, and the conversation so far, goes to Anthropic's Claude API to write the answer, or to Google's Gemini API if Claude can't. They handle it under their own terms (Anthropic, Google). The site doesn't save your questions or the answers, just that a question was asked, how long it was and how long the answer took. Your IP address is used briefly to stop too many questions at once. Best not to type anything personal or confidential.

Connecting an AI assistant

If you connect an AI assistant to the site's MCP server at /mcp, the site records which tool it called, the name the assistant gives itself, such as "claude-ai", and the same daily visit ID as above. It never sees what you asked your assistant. The site also logs when AI companies' crawlers read its pages.

The contact form

Your message, plus your name and email if you add them, comes to my inbox along with your IP address and country. I use it to read and reply, nothing else. Cloudflare Turnstile checks your browser isn't a bot, and Cloudflare keeps short-lived logs of submissions.

Hosting

The site runs on Cloudflare, which handles every request (including your IP address) to serve pages and fend off attacks.

Your rights

Under New Zealand's Privacy Act 2020 you can ask what I hold about you, and have it corrected or deleted. Just email hello@miromiro.co.nz. If you're not happy with how I handle it, you can go to the Privacy Commissioner.
